My homie recently told me to stop hating on everything. I guess by “everything,” he meant: Jay-Z’s “Death of Autotune” that exempts T-Pain, Kanye, and Lil Wayne; Eminem’s album where he raps in weird voices; and middling, effeminate rappers like Drake. For my good friend, here is the recommended joint for the day: Common’s “The 6th Sense,” produced by DJ Premier, coming off his album, Like Water For Chocolate (fun fact: I read the book from which Common takes the album title because I was feeling the album at the time and wanted to be as smart as Common. But getting book recommendations from rappers is not a great idea all the time).

When I listened to Universal Mind Control on Thursday, the rest of the day had a shitty flavor. Like holy crap! I had my thizz face on the whole time. Not because it was way 2 fonky but because I was genuinely disgusted and pained, I vomited in my mouth a little bit, wanted to roll over into a fetal position and pray for someone to come save me from the horror, kept cursing at Common, hip-hop, music, life, the world, everything at once. After that ordeal, I scoured my home for some means of gratification. I tried everything: listened to the new Scarface, listened to old Organized Konfusion, watched porn, snacked on some leftovers of one of my favorite dishes, played the original Final Fantasy Tactics ie. the greatest game ever. All for naught. Christ, even watching new episodes of The Office and 30 Rock couldn’t get the funky, sour, armpit taste out of mouth or out of my mind. This is like the evil embodiment of The Clipse’ “Eyugh” grunt.
